A masterful example of Soviet graphic art . Propaganda for Soviet children on the advances of industrial agriculture and collectivisation. A very fresh example.
Teodor Pevzner (1904-1942) studied at Vkhutemas before turning to children's book design. For The Farmyard he uses staggered perspective and bright contrasting colours to create vivid scenes of cows being milked, horses in their stables and children playing with animals in a fashion befitting his avant-garde training.
Sole edition, small 8vo; 10pp., chromolithographed throughout; in the original publisher's wrappers, a fine example.
